Double Tap to Zoom

When it comes to eyewear, TOM FORD doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel. With a firmly established design language already in place, its oversized wraparounds and sophisticated designs alike are instantly recognizable as the work of the brand. But season upon season, the luxury house continues to refine and adapt its already much-loved offering, keeping us on our toes each year with a little optical unpredictability.

As summer approaches, TOM FORD EYEWEAR’s Spring/Summer collection has not let us down. Wraparounds are still very much on-trend, yes, and the brand has obliged us with a few. But TOM FORD also sees no need to deviate from its own path in order to meet the demand. Here you’ll find both the timeless and the trendy—a shape for whichever character you wish to dress up as on any given morning. There’s the occasional bit of 2000s flare, but nothing that leans too Simple Life. It’s tasteful and bold simultaneously, and everything we’ve come to expect from the brand.

There are also three designs in the collection plucked straight from the runway, enough to carry even the most quotidian of looks. The Brady-02, Parker-02, and Addison-02 are as mean as they are poised—a slick, wraparound mask that will give your coffee-run look the unapproachability it deserves. It’s an optical interpretation of Haider Ackermann’s creative direction, and the sort of shape that Depop girls will still be lapping up in two decades’ time.

Beyond style, this is also a collection which pays forensic attention to material. The collection brings in mineral glass lenses to a few of its styles—meaning better clarity and better resistance to scratches and stress. It seems like a small detail, but it brings welcome balance between elevated design and technical precision.

As the sun comes out this May, sunglasses will make their true annual return. TOM FORD’s message is clear: these are more than accessories. Let them do the heavy lifting.
