Vans’ Mossy Authentic Sneaker Shines from the Swamp
What would it look like if Oscar the Grouch designed a Vans sneaker? The thrash house explored this concept with a textured, swamp-green suede Authentic sneaker. Trash? Out. Thrash? In!
Despite the greened-out Authentic sneaker's uncanny resemblance to the trash-dwelling muppet, the "Black/Green" Vans Authentic sneaker is pretty darn fresh.
In addition to the suede, grass-like upper, the sneaker features Vans' premium glossy high sidewall and rope lace detailing, which gives the shoe some elevated verve. Of course, classic Vans hallmarks like the heritage low-top build, waffle outsole pattern, and vulcanized structure keep things rooted in a non-PBS reality.
Though since there are so many high fashion crossovers with the good folks over a sesame street, an unofficial collab isn't that far out of the realm of possibilities.
Available on the Vans website for $90, the textured sneaker also comes in black and gold. Count Dracula and Big Bird vibes, if you will.
Vans loves a good textured topper moment, especially on top of a classic Authentic sneaker, as seen with the soft chocolate shredder that lowkey looks like a delicious towel.
Whether or not Sesame Street has an official skate part isn't exactly canon, but if there were any half pipes in the area, this mossy thrasher would be right at home.
