Virgil Abloh has just been announced as the keynote speaker for the 2020 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Conference on Architecture.

Taking place in Los Angeles in May, the Conference will see Abloh sitting down for an interview with Roman Mars from 99% Invisible, the independent design and architecture radio show. Per AIA's website, Abloh will be discussing "democratic design and intellectualizing the mundane."

Before starting his career in fashion, Abloh earned a graduate degree in Architecture, as well as a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering. Given his educational background and recent MARKERAD collection for IKEA, the designer's recent appointment as AIA Conference's keynote speaker isn't all that surprising.

The 2020 AIA Conference will take place at LA's Convention Center on May 14, from 5-6:30 pm PT. Find out more about the 2020 AIA Conference program and registration here.
