Double Tap to Zoom

AAPE by A Bathing Ape has partnered with none other than the cast of Sesame Street for its newest collaboration. The Japanese streetwear giants tapped the characters of one of the most successful children’s television programs to be their most recent inspiration. Remember Elmo, Big Bird, and the Cookie Monster? Yeah, this is them, now.

The line consists of a series of printed T-shirts for both children and adults featuring the Sesame Street main gang. Every shirt is printed with the Sesame Street logo as well as the classic AAPE moon face. On one garment, the Muppets appear next to the AAPER, the brand’s gorilla-esque icon, as if they’ve all gathered together for a street party. It’s a combination that works better than you’d think. This drop is yet another testament to AAPE’s penchant for pushing boundaries and thinking up unexpected collaborations.

It’s been over 50 years since Sesame Street first appeared on American televisions. They’ve been captivating audiences ever since. AAPE’s shirts, in black, white, purple, and Cookie Monster blue nod to this iconic history while bringing the characters into a whole new hemisphere.

Did Muppets creator Jim Henson ever think his characters would helm a streetwear line? Probably not, but we’re definitely glad they are.

Shop the collection here and in stores at 443N Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles, and 340 Lafayette Street, New York.
