Since September 13th, there has been an unmissable change happening in Paris. At the heart of the city’s 18th arrondissement, the adidas Arena transformed into one of Europe’s most striking music venues.
Ahead of The Sound of Superstar(s), adidas covered 1,555 m² of the building's base with shoebox-inspired graphics, while 650 m² of the upper facade featured portraits of campaign ambassadors including Angèle, Anthony Edwards, Jules Koundé, Jennie Kim, and Missy Elliott—some reaching over 15 meters in height. This new cultural landmark hit social media hard and fast, and this wasn’t even the main event.
The main event was The Sound of Superstar(s).
Hosted by Mariana Benenge, the night saw a string of memorable performances from names like Angèle, Asake, Luidji, Theodora, Shygirl, La Mano 1.9, SSSound, and Marion Motin. While the artists represent all aspects of the contemporary cultural zeitgeist, one thing united them: each artist wore the iconic adidas Superstar on stage, highlighting the versatility of the silhouette as a foundation for different styles.
“Superstar has always celebrated the intersection of sport and culture with music playing an important role,’’ notes Annie Barrett, Vice President of Brand Communication at adidas Originals. ‘‘We wanted to create a moment where the community could experience the energy and creativity that has always surrounded this silhouette.” And, under the bright lights of the adidas Arena—home to Paris Basketball Club—thousands of fans who scored their free tickets through the adiClub community or in line at the Champs-Elysées flagship bore witness to the Superstar’s enduring influence across generations and cultures.
Alongside the performances, the adidas Arena’s transformation included campaign visuals and photography throughout the space and main show stage, as well as the latest Superstar and Firebird collections on display, and limited-edition event merchandise.
