What We're Saying: The 2020/21 Premier League season was nothing to write home about for Arsenal fans, which is why they will do well to relive their glory days until Arteta and co. get their shit together. It's precisely these glory days that adidas' latest collaboration with the Gunners aims to highlight.

The 1970/71 season was quite the year for Arsenal, as they secured their first league title and FA Cup double. Exactly 50 years later, adidas pays homage to the club's success with a revival of the TRX Runner — and the sneaker is packed with references to the club’s history.

The TRX Runner is a symbolic, appropriate choice given that it was frequently worn by passionate, working-class fans in the terraces' standing sections. And any Arsenal fan will be able to tell you that that yellow and navy blue colorway references the kit worn by Arsenal during that fateful season.

Further details can be seen on the three stripes. One is adorned with "1971" in gold, while the sock liner features a pattern taken from the classic Arsenal crest, and there is also the famous cannon logo on the heel — which made a return on the Gunners’ new 21/22 away kit.

The 1971 TRX Runner is available now with a limited run of 1971 models.
