Editor's Notes: The arrival of fall calls for more considered footwear choices. No one likes to get caught in the rain with the wrong pair of sneakers on, traipsing back home with soggy feet. It's never cute, and the smell? No thanks!

Adding a healthy dose of utility into the design of a sneaker is an easy way to combat the elements. There are many ways to go about this; typically, it's down to the application of suitable fabrications to fulfill the task. A prime example of this would be Salomon's latest version of the XT-6, which now comes equipt with GORE-TEX.

There are ways to go about the provision of protective elements without having to make radical changes to the sneaker's construction, however, as this can sometimes invite a higher cost. How, you ask? Just like this new take on the Reebok Zig Kinetica courtesy of ASAP Nast's NST2.

Following up on the success of their collaborative, hiking-inspired Zig Kinetica II Edge, the duo refit the futuristic runner with its strongest colorway to date. From front to back, deep seasonal hits of black and browns wrap the synthetic and mesh upper.

Touches of red perfect the palette's contrasts, while removable shrouds add an additional layer of protection around the ankles, keeping those wetter days at bay.

As is standard from the franchise, Vibram handles the soles, creating a hard-hitting beast that's tooled up for high performance.
