ASICS is gearing up for spring with a fresh crop of its hybrid, GEL tech sneakers. The release includes a trio of GEL-KAYANO 5 360s and two colorways of the trail-inspired GEL-NANDI 360 done up in a variety of executions from stealthy dark shades to pale pastel hues.

The new colorways come off the back of a solid, sneaker-filled start to the year for ASICS. Not even three months in to 2020 and the brand has already released collaborations with Vancouver label Reigning Champ, Japan boutique mita sneakers' founder Mitsui-san, and Berlin-based brand GmbH. As if that wasn’t enough, they also launched a project with London-based fashion house, rokh, and continued their long-standing partnership with Kiko Kostadinov, releasing a black and wild green GEL-KIRIL last month.

The first silhouette in the new pack is the GEL-KAYANO 5 360. Launched last year, the innovative sneaker was ASICS’ first hybrid model, combining the stylish, retro vibes of the GEL-KAYANO 5’s upper with a 360° GEL tech sole. It has since become one of the brand’s most favored models.

The new drop sees the silhouette done up in two contrasting ways. The first features a predominantly black upper with pops of “safety yellow” and orange on the upper, and the GEL technology highlighted in translucent yellow. The second is a breezier option offering hints of mint green and translucent mesh underlays on a gray upper and sole for men, and a white upper and cream sole for women.

Dropping alongside the GEL-Kayano 5 360 is the GEL-NANDI 360. Following in the former’s footsteps, the GEL-Nandi 360 is a hybrid model that spruces up a retro upper by adding a techy GEL-QUANTUM 360 tooling.

The new releases take cues from the model’s trail roots, bringing outdoor vibes in two colorways. The first features a black and white upper with a contrasting red lining and speckled red and black laces; the second sees the upper decked out in gray and black with hints of dusty pink and an all-black sole unit.
