Editor's Notes: ASICS’ GEL-NYC sneaker is having one hell of a year, let me tell you.

Coming out of the blocks alongside Awake NY (a contender for sneaker of the year, IMO), the techy ASICS silhouette is arguably the sportswear label’s most sought-after silhouette of 2023 thus far.

In part down to an aesthetically pleasing (albeit chaotic) upper inspired by ASICS’ GEL-NIMBUS 3 (a shoe from the early 2000s), but also thanks to the breadth of colorways the GEL-NYC has already been realized in, it’s a sneaker clearly adored.

Following an array of inline colorway releases back in March off the back of Paris Fashion Week, ASICS is now updating the silhouette in a trio of new iterations: “Oatmeal/Forest,” “Cream/Aquamarine,” and “Concrete/Oatmeal.”

As has been the case with each GEL-NYC to-date, the silhouette’s upper is contrasted with a GEL-CUMULUS 16 tooling system with a combination of lightweight foams and GEL technology inserts, while a classic ASICS midsole formation helps create ultimate underfoot comfort.

In essence, ASICS’ GEL-NYC is a frankenstein concoction of a host of archival brand silhouettes which, in hindsight, is perhaps the most appealing facet about the entire sneaker. That and the sensational colorways, of course.
