Axel Arigato made a name for itself with a range of highly understated luxury sneakers. In its eight years of life, the Swedish label has expanded its repertoire significantly, though.

Debuting back in 2019, the Axel Arigato Catfish Sneaker was a big moment in the brand’s life, showing that the label that had been providing luxury leather tennis sneakers could do a whole lot more than just that. Now, for FW22, a number of new understated colorways of the sneaker have landed.

Inspired by the skate shoes that populated the ‘90s, the Axel Arigato Catfish Sneakers are handmade in Portugal from high-end leather and mesh panels. The real defining feature of the Catfish comes in the form of a chunky custom thermoplastic rubber sole unit. An off-white midsole contrasts with a colorful and satisfyingly rugged outsole on each pair which finishes off the range of retro two-tone palettes.

Landing for FW22 in new colorways, the Axel Arigato Catfish Lo looks like an absolute essential for this season. As we move even more to the side of retro sneakers, the Catfish embodies everything we look for. I mean, this design looks like it’s been cut straight out of a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air episode.
