How Can a Sneaker Brand Make Clogs This Good?
Reebok has no business being this good at clogs. The venerable sneaker brand is somehow behind the sexiest clogs and sandals I've seen in months. I'm surprised, not because it's Reebok but because you don't expect a sneaker brand to be so good at this sort of thing.
Quietly debuting on Reebok's Korean website in late August, the Reebok Classic Mule and Classic Slide are absurdly aesthetic. Tasteful suede upper, complementary footbed, rubber sole to match. This is simple stuff, made better by a clever twist.
The clog integrates the Reebok logo into its streamlined upper in such a way that it activates the late-stage capitalist neurons in all of our brains — familiar logo in unfamiliar context! — but doesn't interrupt the slide's sheer slickness. Top-tier stuff. So good that you'd have no idea this came from a sneaker brand (save for the logo).
As for the sandals, well, a Birkenstock by any other name is still just as sweet.
But Reebok is admittedly on one right now. Great collabs, including London publisher IDEA and red-hot luxury label CELINE, quietly killer in-line silhouettes, and some on-trend styles that're surprisingly fresh.
Reebok even has a history of shockingly good sandals, if you recall the Beatnik. So, maybe of all the sneaker brands to make a clog this cool, it ought to be Reebok.
