Turns Out, Aya Brown Designed an Earthy Air Max for Everyone
Aya Brown had us in the first half with her original Air Max 95, a very good-looking "Friends & Family" pair that only a handful of people would get to experience. But it turns out, there's another collaborative sneaker by the artist and Telfar collaborator. And this one's for everyone.
The second Air Max 95 sneaker comes dressed in lime green suede and black leather layers, plus an embroidered red Swoosh and remixed Air Max tag that now reads "A Brown." For Aya Brown, of course.
Similar to other recent 95s, it also features adjustable toggle shoelaces, which add a rugged touch to the model. Between the hiking-style shoelaces and earthy "Atomic Green" scheme, Brown's effort is quite outdoorsy. Very good-looking, too.
The Brooklyn artist approaches her Air Max like her artwork, essentially, applying her signature bold design that speaks to her Black queer experience. Like many, Brown grew up wearing the Air Max 95s, which are just as huge now as they were 30-plus years ago.
Now, she's got not one but two of her own.
Her F&F editions, which came in a brown colorway, sent the sneaker world into an absolute frenzy, with many begging for a wider release. Prayers were quickly answered when Brown revealed her upcoming "Atomic Green" Air Max 95s.
They're set to be released first at Christie's in NYC on August 15. They will then drop on Nike's SNKRS App on August 21, retailing for $180.
