We’ve seen our fair share of futuristic sneakers lately, with most of them coming from the luxury sphere. But, lately, we’ve found it harder and harder to ignore Balmain’s contribution to the field. The Balmain B-Bold silhouette might be the most futuristic sneaker of them all.
Set atop a mind-bending sole unit, the Balmain B-Bold is, as the name suggests, all about making an impact. The segmented sole unit features two distinctive holes to the forefoot and heel through which fastening straps run. As for the upper, there are several variations of the Balmain B-Bold.
The most natural, we’d argue, is the Hiking iteration. A technical sock upper is in tune with the hyper-modern sole unit while fastening straps to the forefoot mirror a buckle strap to the collar. The Low-Top B-Bold silhouette takes a more casual tack (it’s definitely not casual, just more casual) with a classic leather and suede upper.
There’s a lot to unpack when it comes to the Balmain B-Bold Sneaker. Not least the sole unit, or upper, or flashy colorways, but also the overall shape of the design. From above, the B-Bold silhouette comes to an almost formal pointed toe. The more you take this design in, the less you understand it. Is this post-modernism? We’re not sure. It’s definitely bold.
