The second full-length Bumblebee trailer has arrived. The Transformers prequel is set in 1987 and focuses on the relationship between teenage girl Charlie, played by Hailee Steinfeld, and Bumblebee, here in his classic ’80s VW Beetle iteration.

The first teaser focused on the initial meeting between Charlie and Bumblebee, while the second gives us a glimpse at the movie's action-packed plot. A civil war is raging on the Transformers' home planet of Cybertron and it threatens to expand to Earth. Bumblebee is given a mission by Optimus Prime: “There is only one way to end this war: you must protect Earth and its people.”

Bumblebee is the sixth movie in the live-action Transformers series and the first not to be directed by Michael Bay. Travis Knight, best known for his animated work on ParaNorman and for directing Kubo and the Two Strings, takes the helm.

Steinfeld is joined by John Cena, while Angela Bassett and Justin Theroux lend their voices to Transformers Shatter and Dropkick. OG ’80s Optimus Prime Peter Cullen returns to voice the Autobot leader.

Bumblebee is set to hit theaters in time for Christmas, opening on December 21. Watch the trailer above and, in case you missed it, the first teaser is below.
