Descente Allterrain

The universe's timing strikes gold as Descente Allterrain's Fall/Winter 2021 collection finally makes it west, bringing a selection of weather-ready products to Browns.

It is cold – no fluff needed. Somehow we're halfway through November, and I've already forgotten what summer air feels like. Riding your bike without gloves feels like instant frostbite, thick socks are an absolute must, and layers have been welcomed back with open arms.

After a weekend in 2 degrees above freezing and rainy Oslo, I feel that I'm being hyperbolic complaining about London's temperature, and yet I wouldn't be a Brit if I didn't. Too hot or too cold – we've never all that pleased.

Fortunately, when it comes to cold and wet weather, I know how well Descente Allterrain performs. Three years ago, I was totally unaware of the brand until they did a London pop-up, and after getting familiar with my own jacket throughout the transition through fall and into winter, the adoration and respect it garners in Japan made total sense.

Far too often are you forced to choose between rainproofing and warmth – GORE-TEX, let's say, versus insulated down.

Descente Allterrain's high-performance outerwear pieces like the iconic Mizusawa Down Jacket offer both.

The jacket, which won the Mountain Performance category at ISPO 2018, has become a signature style for Descente. It offers complete waterproofing, temperature control, and breathability. In short, it's the full package.

Fall/Winter 2021 extends the brand's arsenal with a wider color palette that sticks to the modest, wearable options that have become a stylistic staple. Deep khaki green, black, navy, and grey appear across several pieces of outerwear and extend to pants and tees.

A selection of key pieces from the Descente Allterrain Fall/Winter 2021 collection have made their way west to Browns, which are available to shop online now.
