Nike’s Nailed-Down Air Force 1 Is a Real Hellraiser
Nightmare on Elm Street? More like nightmare Air Forces straight from One Bowerman Drive, a.k.a. Nike headquarters.
The sportswear giant's getting into the spooky-season spirit with Halloween-themed Air Force 1 Low sneakers. And before I even dive into the design, know: they're scary-good.
The classic Nike sneaker lands with sliced-up black leather uppers, blood-red accents, and round silver studs resemble nails. It's quite literally Pinhead from the movie Hellraiser, if he ever got his own official Nike sneaker.
Nike doesn't necessarily name-drop the character or even the movie title. But these Air Forces are definitely hellraisers (complimentary).
What's more, the "Nightmare" Air Force 1 is a '01 model, which means it offers not only a clever spooky design but also the classic 2001 shape. Expect a sportier look overall, plus top-notch materials and a narrower toe box.
This year, Swoosh has dropped a lot of great Halloween sneakers, like Ghostface-inspired Air Force 1s and scaly Dunks dubbed "Shibuya Halloween." There's also an entire collection of spooky signature basketball shoes, including stitched-up Book 2s.
Now, we're getting Pinhead-coded Forces. Speaking of which, they're scheduled to drop on Nike's website on October 23 for $140.
