If (recent) history's taught us anything, then it's that soccer gear's not just for soccer players – sorry, football. Amongst other evidence, we've seen a kit craze spread like a virus through feeds and ForYouPages that have otherwise little to do with the sport or its vast communities of fans.
Instead, it could be deemed the logical consequence of how the unpurposefully stylish head-to-toe of football devotees has made its way into higher fashion's consciousness.

Euros 2024: A Beginner's Guide to Blokecore
Firstly, a reminder that 'Blokecore' combines 'bloke,' a British slang word for a man, historically working-class and passionate about football, and 'core,' a suffix used in fashion to denote a specific style. In the simplest of terms, the blokecore wardrobe is an intergenerational dress code of fanculture-related products and brands, amongst the most acute and symbolic of which are jerseys and shoes.
The Jersey aka The Kit
So, let us start with what is arguably the most important part of a blokecore outfit, the centerpiece, the crown jewel: the kit – or jersey, as we'd more likely refer to it stateside. Needless to say, this is the item with which you pledge allegiance to your favorite team or player even, the armor to signify whom your fighting with, and whom against.
There's plenty of variety to this, as you can opt for national team kits, those of city football clubs, for home or away designs, contemporary or vintage – or straight up designer-imagined, by the likes of Balenciaga, Aimé Leon Dore, or the viral, hopelessly hard to find Acne Studios shirt.
The Off-Field Footwear
Furthermore, any good bloke, according to our bloke in residence, counts a trusted pair of adidas to his Arsenal (get it?). So should you, then, if you want to rock his signature getup. Be they a highly coveted Wales Bonner Samba, or an unfussy Gazelle classic – a three-striped shoe is an absolute non-negotiable when it comes to blokecore.
Go ham by adding a bucket hat, some baggy jeans, or a track jacket to the mix, and you'll have the blokecore uniform down to a T – and still on time for the Euros 2024!
