From Table to Foot, Gohar World Does Ballet Sneakers Now
Founded by sisters Laila and Nadia Gohar, Gohar World has carved out a distinct niche in fashion by treating table setting and hosting as high art. Known for surrealist, whimsical tableware, the New York-based studio brings a romantic eye to everyday rituals. Translating that theatrical lens into footwear, the label joins forces with the Japanese sportswear powerhouse to present the Gohar World x ASICS GEL-DS Trainer SP Ballet.
Gohar World's surreal storytelling subverts a high-performance 1990s distance runner with surprising ease.
Rather than opting for a standard colorway update, the sisters completely dismantle the GEL-DS Trainer chassis, carving out the traditional tongue and vamp to mimic the open instep of a classic pointe shoe.
The upper is built from lightweight technical mesh wrapped in sleek synthetic overlays, featuring a scooped open-top layout that exposes the top of the foot. Rope laces thread through the eyelets, standing in contrast to the elegant mary jane silhouette.
The pair stays anchored to its marathon roots with a sculpted EVA midsole equipped with ASICS' signature GEL® technology in the heel for responsive cushioning.
A durable rubber outsole maintains reliable grip, putting this pair in the ever-growing group of ballet hybrids sweeping the world of sneakers this year. But, we’d say that not every hybrid is made equal. With fun detailing like a piercing to the forefoot, the Gohar World x ASICS GEL-DS Trainer Ballet is a class apart.
