Boiled peanuts are not just an American Southern delicacy. They're also a hot and fresh adidas sneaker.

In collaboration with Florida-based streetwear boutique Fresh Rags, adidas turned its Handball Spezial into a wearable ode to one of the strangest snacks south of the Mason-Dixon.

But what is a regional snack if not a little unconventional?

For the uninitiated, boiled peanuts are something of a southern delicacy found almost at the best gas stations any road tripper could hope to stumble across.

It's basically the caviar of the gas station, and Fresh Rags founder and Florida native Michael Bickel expresses as much through his Hot Boiled Peanuts Handball Spezial.

It's not just a cool sneaker based on a quirky snack; it's a love letter to the Sunshine State and the culture that fostered Fresh Rags' creation. The brown upper represents the toasted hue obtained by a bag of properly stewed peanuts, while the heel reflects the rough, veined outer of a peanut shell.

Loopy cursive script spells out "caviar' near the toe in a gold hue similar to the hot-foil stamped "Spezial" and Trefoil branding at the Three Stripes.

The boiled peanut collab will release on August 8, but you can get your actual fresh and hot boiled peanuts any time you're in the greater Tampa area.
