HBO CEO Richard Plepler has revealed that the final season of Game of Thrones is like watching six individual movies.

Talking to Variety at a Golden Globes after-party, Plepler enthused about our last venture to Westeros, stating that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have surpassed the already mountainously high expectations. “It’s a spectacle. The guys have done six movies," he said. "The reaction I had while watching them was, ‘I’m watching a movie.’"

Plepler continued, “They knew the bar was high. They’ve exceeded the bar. I’ve watched them twice without any CGI and I’m in awe." (Anyone who has seen clips and images of what Daenerys' dragons look like without CGI will know that this is quite the compliment.) "Everybody’s in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production.”
