Editor’s Notes:

Legendary Japanese designer Issey Miyake never fails to impress with his gender-bending Homme Plissé Issey Miyake label, and this season promises to be one of its most experimental yet. The FW21/22 collection comprises classic silhouettes like tailored jackets and trousers complemented by new styles like a slim, cropped jacket and a wrap integrated with a waist apron for a modern take on the emerging men’s skirt trend.

But the highlight of the collection is undoubtedly the introduction of tweed pleats for cozy vibes all season long. It’s the first pleated series that uses fabric woven with yarn-dyed polyester threads instead of being printed on, making each piece as warm as wool but lighter and more wrinkle-resistant. Rounding out the collection is a print series featuring motifs of African-inspired baskets, each depicting the interconnectedness of hand-woven baskets.
