Editor’s Notes: J Balvin has been teasing an upcoming Nike Air Jordan 1 collaboration for almost a year now. And after many delays, the Colombian reggaeton superstar's colorful Jordan finally has a release date.

This week Nike shared a December 8 launch date for the collaborative Air Jordan 1, in addition to a list of retailers that will be carrying the sneaker and official photos of the shoe.

Balvin previously told Highsnobiety's Sarah Osei that the release had to be pushed back "because of the coronavirus, they closed all the factories." However, he also disclosed to us that the drop is really around the corner: "it's going to happen maybe around November."

Balvin worked with Jordan Brand NRG legend Franklin Cook (aka @frankcooker on Instagram), who posted the sneaker to his page earlier this year, writing a lengthy caption congratulating the singer and the rest of the Jordan Brand team that worked on the sneaker.

Cooke wrote: “I was so scared to alter such a legendary shoe and distort such pristine design lines. Much love to the Jumpman fam [...] for helping me craft the initial vision.”

The eye-catching Air Jordan 1 brings intense colors and vibes, as Nike puts it, appropriately coinciding with the names of J Balvin's 2020 and 2018 albums.

“I was thinking about how I could have a disruptive Air Jordan I,” said Balvin. “I wanted to be the person who really dared to change the shapes and go all out. No one has touched the Air Jordan I like this before.”

J Balvin's Air Jordan 1 releases December 8 on Nike SNKRS and at select retailers listed below.
