If there’s one thing Los Angeles will always show up for, it’s a good party. What makes a great one, though, is that sweet spot between intimate gathering and neighborhood link up, something Kids of Immigrants and Oatly mastered with ease. Last Thursday, in the heart of Melrose Hill, their unexpected workwear collaboration came to life through the Pour Into Others launch event, brought together with the help of the beloved Café Telegrama and Etra.
The setting alone set the tone. Café Telegrama’s chic, minimal interior sits quietly connected through a shared wall to Etra, the restaurant’s moody, red-lit counterpart that feels undeniably sexy after dark. Together, the spaces invited guests to experience the collection in real time, surrounded by good design, great energy, and just the right amount of indulgence.
As the sky turned fully black, friends and family filtered in and were immediately met with a suspended display of the Pour Into Others collection. The pieces, deeply intentional in their construction, lived alongside a wall of campaign imagery featuring baristas from New York and Los Angeles. The installation grounded the collaboration in real people and real labor, reinforcing the heart and humanity behind the workwear.
A cocktail and food menu created specially for the night added another thoughtful layer. Oatly was woven seamlessly into the offerings, with playful yet refined drinks like a Matcha Martini and Negronis infused with oat milk, a welcome win for us lactose-sensitive guests. Bites from Spicy tuna toast to mushroom conserva to root vegetable tartare paired perfectly with each designed drink. Trays moved quickly through the crowd, glasses found their way into eager hands, and with each sip, the energy lifted just a bit more, officially ushering in the feeling of celebration. That rising energy spilled onto the dance floor, soundtracked by a house-heavy jazz set from Jahaari Terry, who held the room until the very last drink was poured.
Throughout the night, the atmosphere reflected the shared values of both brands. Kids of Immigrants’ storytelling around heritage, identity, and lived experience blended naturally with Oatly’s community-driven ethos.
By the end of the night, guests spilled back onto the sidewalk, music still humming behind them, carrying the spirit of the night with them. It served as a reminder that when collaborations are led with intention, the result feels genuine, lasting, and deeply human.
