Spill Coffee on the La Marzocco and RAINS Apron
What do a century-old Florentine coffee machine company and a rainwear brand from Aarhus have in common? They both want your day to go as smoothly as possible. La Marzocco designs premium espresso machines to keep you caffeinated in style, while RAINS is the minimalist Danish outerwear label that made getting caught in a downpour look intentional.
The brands bonded over shared values of functionality, quality, and honoring the rituals of everyday life. Many people go to bed dreaming of the first cup of coffee waiting for them in the morning. Too often, that ritual is disturbed when they spill coffee down their shirt seconds before they plan to leave the house. Well, consider the problem solved.
This unexpected collaboration has delivered a limited-edition coffee apron, with RAINS' signature waterproof fabric getting an espresso-colored makeover. It's a barista-grade apron for the home, with pockets, hardware that doubles as hooks, and both brands' names emblazoned on the chest. Can you really call yourself a coffee aficionado if you don't wear a dedicated apron when fixing your morning cortado?

Yesterday, the brands celebrated the launch over coffee at RAINS' flagship store in Copenhagen. Guests were served espresso courtesy of renowned Danish specialty roaster La Cabra using its Kenya Kii AB beans. La Marzocco handled operations with a custom mini Officine Fratelli Bambi espresso machine designed for the occasion, and beverages were served in exclusive RAINS x La Marzocco cups and saucers. Everyone was relaxed, knowing that the day was not only going to be full to the brim of amazing coffee, but spill-free to boot.
"There's something interesting about objects that are highly functional and, over time, become beloved cultural objects as well," says RAINS co-founder and creative director Philip Lotko. "La Marzocco has achieved that with their espresso machine. With this collaboration we wanted to respect that icon and bring it into the Rains universe through our own approach to materiality and simplicity."
