The task of creating something that can be considered "timeless" is by no means easy but, in its own words, that's what Lemaire sets out to do.
The Parisian brand helmed by Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran consistently manages to deliver new, luxurious takes on classic designs — and, more often than not, I'd argue that they hit the illusive appeal of being timeless.
A perfect example of this is its twisted shirt. When it hit the runway for FW22 you'd be forgiven for missing it, hidden under a long coat with a crossbody bag further obstructing its view. But now that it's available to shop, we've had the chance to see the shirt in all its wonderful glory.
While it can be worn as a pretty standard luxury shirt, made from cotton poplin woven in Italy and finished with mother-of-pearl buttons, it has another, more experimental side. Placed at either hip is a slit with button closures that you can attach the front of the shirt to so that it drapes across to one side.
The concept of "twisted" clothing is often visited by the brand, we've seen it manifest itself differently in various collections and, if we're being honest, it's a pretty simple idea. However, it's so well executed every time that it has become a signature theme for Lemaire over the years.
Similar to its other mainstay styles, such as its seamless jeans that have no side seam for an unconventional finish, it's the small playful touches that make its collections not only experimental but also fun.
Beyond the twisted shirt that I have become (maybe a bit excessively) enamored with, the rest of the latest FW22 pieces to drop are equally pretty — particularly, the knitwear.
All made in Italy, the latest selection on the Highsnobiety Shop includes a chunky cardigan with a high v-neck crafted from merino wool, a similarly thick off-white sweater with a boxy fit, and an equally boxy black v-neck sweater.
