Brand: Maison Margiela
Key Pieces: The Discharged Sweater is like nothing we have seen before, coming with a cape/scarf sewn into it alongside a "discharged" bleach print. In a collection that is otherwise relatively understated, it certainly catches the eye.

Editors Notes: The days of leaving your house and forgetting to throw a scarf on are over thanks to Maison Margiela's latest sweater where a needle punch scarf is attached to the back of it.
At least we think that's what it is — since the long piece of fabric flows down beyond the hem at the bottom of this sweater to create what looks like a cape. It is a top that can turn you into some kind of a high-fashion superhero when the scarf is left untied. Re-inforced by Margiela's signature four stitches, the black scarf/cape is attached by the shoulders to an already statement-making bleach-print sweater.
A distinctive bleached treatment added to the fuzzy fabric makes the blotchy beige and black pattern that covers the body, hence the name "discharged sweater". Unique to each individual piece, the bleaching process creates a different pattern every time making each piece a 1 of 1. So, if by any chance you find anyone else wearing a sweater, cape hybrid from the label there will be differences in the pattern on your pieces.
The sweater releases as part of the label's SS22 collection, which includes its signature spliced jeans, casual shirting, and, of course, tabi-fied footwear. In the line of collaborations, this season has also seen the brand release surrealist backpacks courtesy of its MM6 subline and Eastpack along with collaborative sneakers with Reebok that deconstructs its range of classic footwear.
