“Our brands share a clear passion for design and high-quality performance wear, so we approached the partnership in an organic manner,” says Gretchen Weimer, HOKA’s global VP of product. “From the beginning, the excitement around the project from each team was undeniable, which shows in the final design.”

The sneaker model itself is one of HOKA’s premier trail-running shoes, which was developed with input from some of the world’s most elite trail athletes. The upper is incredibly lightweight, while the VIBRAM Megagrip rubber outsole and aggressive lugs ensure maximum grip on literally any surface.

“A take on of one of the very original HOKA silhouettes, the Mafate Speed 2 was a natural pick for us to work on, as the original Mafate was designed in both brands’ birthplace,” Weimer tells Highsnobiety. “We've brought in signature style elements from each brand, and spotlighted performance to deliver an elevated shoe that's designed to tackle the toughest of terrain.”
