Brand: New Balance

Model: 2002R "Protection Pack"

Release Date: August 5

Buy: Highsnobiety Shop

Editor’s Notes: After dropping its hyped Protection Pack last year (technically called “Refined Future"), New Balance is back with its latest take on the 2002R model.

The sequel to the "Protection Pack" by designer Yue Wu first dropped earlier this year: so if you took an L on the first release, now is your chance.

The release arrives in two new colorways: Mirage Grey and Dark Navy. Both pairs feature a mix of suede and contrasting mesh along the deconstructed upper, as well as New Balance’s signature N-ERGY outsole that provides cushioning and shock absorption.

It goes without saying that New Balance has dominated the sneaker market as of late, which was only helped along by having Teddy Santis on board.

Hype aside, the 2002R has never looked better. Originally released in the year of its namesake, the model has undergone several upgrades and has been the subject of collabs from Tokyo-based AURALEE, artist and designer Bryant Giles, and South Korean streetwear brand thisisneverthat.

The new “Refined Future” pack will be available in the Highsnobiety Shop this Friday and if you can’t wait, check out these other 2002Rs below.
