New Balance Waterproofed Its Cool Skate “Dunks”
New Balance Numeric's 480, a.k.a. the "NB Dunks," were already good. So how do you make a good shoe even better? Add GORE-TEX.
That's right. New Balance has weatherproofed its 480 skate shoes, ensuring they stay dry and breathable even in unexpected wet conditions.
Plus, the GORE-TEX versions come in a sharp-looking "Black/Charcoal Grey" colorway. So, they're still stylish as ever in messy weather.
New Balance has dropped many GORE-TEX sneakers before, including waterproof 1906s and DynaSoft trail runners. But this is the first GORE-TEX 480 skate shoe. And honestly, it's about time.
Don't get me wrong, the 480 is already pretty great, with its simple, skate-ready design and fashionable color options. But making a skate sneaker for rainy days is a smart move.
New Balance's GORE-TEX 480s is set to land at skate shops starting on October 9. It will then drop on October 12 on New Balance's website for $160.
The model typically retails for $100, but those aren't waterproof. Yesterday's price is not the GORE-TEX price, or whatever Fat Joe said.
