Some shoes want your attention. The New Balance "Fudge With Turkish Coffee" couldn't care less, and somehow that makes it impossible to ignore.

Made at New Balance's Flimby factory in Cumbria, England, the Allerdale is named after the region that surrounds it. Not a marketing decision, an actual place, with actual history, where the shoes are actually made. In a world of manufactured heritage, that counts for something.

The "Fudge With Turkish Coffee" colorway is full oxblood suede. No contrasting overlays, no logo play, no noise. Just a rich, tonal upper that shifts depending on the light and gets better every time you look at it.

The branding is embroidered and tonal, present if you know where to look, invisible if you don't. Exactly how it should be.

Lace up, and you'll notice the metal D-ring hardware, a quiet nod to Cumbria's walking culture that stops well short of going full hiking boot.

Underfoot, FuelCell foam handles the comfort side of things, stacked with an Ortholite insole for all-day wearability. It's a premium shoe that actually performs like one.

Available April 1 on New Balance’s website. And unlike the release date, this is no joke.
