Nike’s Hiking Sneaker Has Its Head in the Clouds and Feet in the Mud
Hiking shoes are usually pretty good at hiding dirt, but the Nike ACG Zegama Hike in this colorway might be playing on easy mode. The earthy mix of brown and beige is practically begging to be dragged through a muddy trail, and it happens to look gorgeous while doing it.
The British Khaki and Linen upper has that sun-faded, outdoorsy quality that makes a sneaker look better the less pristine it becomes.
Little hits of Light Crimson break up the neutral palette, adding just enough color without ruining the whole understated thing. It’s a seriously good-looking combination, and one that doesn’t require constant vigilance to keep it that way.
Thankfully, the Zegama Hike has the substance to back up the looks. ZoomX cushioning brings a plush feel underfoot, while the Vibram MegaGrip outsole is designed to handle slippery, uneven terrain. This is a proper hiking shoe, not a city sneaker playing dress-up, which we’ve seen plenty of as of late.
Still, there’s no reason it can’t pull double duty. The chunky, technical silhouette has plenty of gorpcore appeal, and the muted colors make it easy to wear beyond the trail.
White hiking shoes are a commitment. Black ones are a little lackluster. These are considerably less demanding, and a whole lot better-looking for it. Mud happens. At least these will look good through it.
