Nike’s Leopard AF1 Is King of the Simple Shoe Jungle
Nike's Air Force 1 has long since claimed its throne as the king of the classic shoe jungle. Might as well make it official with a leopard-accented sneaker.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low "Leopard" is a wild and ready upgrade to the classic black Air Force 1 base.
To spice up the simple black leather upper, this wicked wild AF1 wears a leopard-spotted Swoosh and heel. While this upgrade is subtle, it represents a much larger shift in Nike's Air Force 1 culture.
Black Air Force 1 sneakers sit at the opposite end of the spectrum from white Air Force 1s, both in color and public perception.
While the classic all-white Air Force 1has enjoyed an untainted reign as the king of Swoosh simplicity and is one of the most respected shoes in sneaker culture, the all-black iteration befell a different fate.
For whatever reason, all-black AF1s just didn't catch on with sneaker culture at large. Quite the opposite, in fact; it was something of a social outcast. That is, until Nike doubled down on its concerted efforts to upgrade the sneaker through a number of snazzy enhancements, jungle-related and otherwise.
From crackled leather uppers to matte black paint jobs, Nike is hard at work making sure its darkest sneaker still shines.
