These Leathered-Up Nikes Are Darkly Dressy & Crazily Covetable
It's amazing just how much a small, simple intervention can do to totally flip one's perception of a design. In the case of Nike's Killshot design, the activewear giant's most recent reimagination of the shoe turns a casually sporty favorite into a quietly luxurious Premium sneaker. Literally.
The fittingly named Killshot 2 Premium is an all-black sneaker deluxe, with detachable fold-over tongue flaps atop a darkly brown gum sole.
At times deemed Nike's response to the adidas Samba, the Killshot is indeed an unmistakably clean silhouette, with little (if any) decoration to distract from its form-follows-function appeal, much like its popular nemesis.
Truth is, no one tends to the Killshot for big statements or athletic performance needs, like in the case of say, Nike's latest Paisley AF1s or the hike-tastic Zoom Vomero Roams.
No, this is footwear made to match everyday as well as elevated outfits, uncomplicated yet tasteful, effortless but still nice to look at. And even more so in this new supple matte leather getup, more matte than its predecessors.
At $110, this sneaker's not nearly as expensive as it appears. It's a bargain, frankly, for a shoe that cannot not match whatever one'd consider wearing it with, however neurotic one might be about those things.
How could anyone not figure out what to do with these?
