COMME des GARÇONS is one label that stretches across the board, transforming itself to fit many identities. One side of the label has pioneered all-black, avant-garde luxury fashion, while the other has dominated fun sneaker collaborations with red love hearts on them. Somewhere between those two personalities is the latest Nike x COMME des GARÇONS collaboration which dropped some months back.

The Nike x COMME des GARÇONS Air Max 97 didn’t make as much noise as we thought it deserved when it dropped back in September 2022. This is perhaps because of the minimal styling of the design, but that’s what makes the shoe so attractive if you ask us.

Landing in two colorways, the Nike x COMME des GARÇONS Air Max 97 features a nubuck and mesh upper detailed by heavy distressing to the black pair and a light wash to the blue pair. Either way, the design has as distinctive feeling of being beaten and worn in.

But since the collaboration perhaps didn’t build the hype we’d expected, a very attractive opportunity has arisen for all of us who recognized the beauty of the Nike x COMME des GARÇONS Air Max 97. Both pairs are available to cop for less than half price at SSENSE right now.

With almost a full-size run in each colorway, the silhouette is ripe for the taking at a price of just over $160.
