Double Tap to Zoom

Some runs are a quick little jog around the block. Others are long. Like, really long. The kind where you start questioning every life decision somewhere around kilometre 14. For those occasions, Nike has seemingly decided that more is more.

Meet the Nike Zoom Rival Waffle 7.

It’s a cross-country racing shoe made for getting properly stuck in, with a lightweight build and a waffle outsole that’s ready to deal with everything from road to dirt. Basically, if the route looks like it might get a little messy, this is the sort of shoe you want on your feet.

But there’s something appealing about how unfussy it looks, too. The Sail upper keeps things clean, while flashes of blue add just enough color to remind you that this is, in fact, a racing shoe and not something you accidentally picked up at the running section of a department store.

The real selling point, though, is that it’s built to keep going.

No unnecessary bulk, no overly complicated silhouette, just a lightweight runner designed to get you from the start line to the bit where you’re wondering why you thought this was a good idea.
