Nike’s Luxe Runner Comes Out of Its (Tortoise) Shell
Eyewear has quite the monopoly on tortoise shell, but it's hardly the only apparel category fond of the mottled shell design. Nike's "Tortoise Shell" Zoom Vomero 5 sneaker is a glossy black runner equipped with a tortoise shell Swoosh that gives the techy runner a healthy dose of fall-esque sophistication.
Black dominates the entirety of the shoe, from the mesh upper to the glossy layered panels and the rubber outsole; this shoe eagerly taps into the darker side of running shoe lore.
Light on feet, dark everywhere else. You know the deal.
The only visual reprieve from the sneaker's dark disposition comes from gold ribbon-like detailing along the upper, matching Nike branding at the Swoosh, and, of course, the main character of the moment: the tortoise shell Swoosh.
The translucent speckled medley of glossy ambers, warm browns, and flecks of black gives the sneaker a marble edge that takes the sneaker from the track to the terrace.
Marble moments, once relegated to the finest of kitchen islands, have moseyed their way down to Nike's expansive collection of footwear offerings. Even the Swoosh's breezier options have gotten in on the granite treatment á la the super-thick Nike Calm Elevation slide that comes equipped with its own white Carrara topper.
The Swoosh is really classing up the joint.
