Nike’s Charcoal Air Force 1 Dips Into Its Balenciaga Bag
Nike's Air Force 1 sneaker is a well-established fixture within the fashion shoe circuit. That hasn't been up for debate since, well, ever.
And now the Swoosh is taking the Air Force 1's sartorial status up a notch with a gemmed-up, flipped-out Air Force 1 that transcends the sneaker's established fashion legacy.
Dark Anthracite tumbled leather gives the sneaker its moody, avant-garde aura that's reinforced through the flipped-out tongue, the go-to fixture for any shoe trying to establish a fashion presence. Wales Bonner, you will always be famous.
But Nike, ever the indulger, didn't stop at a flipped-out tongue. It also pierced the sneaker with pearls, metal stars, buckles, and other silver adornments throughout.
These spicy elevations separate this grunged-up take on the AF1 from the simple all-white iteration that has become the paradigm of culturally enhanced sneakers. Instead of the classic leather Swoosh that takes up the majority of the classic AF 1, this iteration wears a small metal Swoosh pendant, which enhances the sneaker's overall fashion gravitas.
In fact, the Air Force 1's bag charms and crinkled leather bear a striking resemblance to Balenciaga's beloved City Bags.
Nike has been steering the Air Force 1 toward chicer pastures with shoes like the glossy black croc AF1 and its equally elegant "Black Loafer Buckle," Air Force 1 sneaker.
But the Nike Air Force 1 Low Charms "Anthracite," which will be available later this year, is in a class of its own when it comes to elevated Air Force 1 sneakers.
