For anyone au fait with Universal Works, you know the Nottingham-based label is all about well-designed, premium takes on traditional gear.

Similarly with Oi Polloi, whatever the Manchester retailer turns its sartorial hand to will undoubtedly deliver in both style and substance.

So when the pair took to Instagram to reveal an upcoming collaboration that’s set to drop online later this week, it was always going to be good, right?

For those unfamiliar, UW is a British label co-founded by David Keyte in 2009. Focusing on producing contemporary menswear, the brand has gone on to become a staple across Europe, boasting two stores in London and one in its native home of Nottingham.

In a similar vein, Oi Polloi is one of the most recognised retailers across the continent since its founding back in 2002. Having collaborated with the likes of Reebok, Fred Perry, Carhartt WIP, and Sebago, to name a few, Oi Polloi’s profile has somewhat skyrocketed more in recent years.

Now working alongside UW, the duo presents a concise capsule of overshirts, short-sleeved shirts, and trousers, all of which arrive in summer-ready pops of yellow, green, pink, and more, as contemporary takes on deerstalker hats and oversized tote bags complete the collection.

In a world where collaborations are rife – whether they make sense or work is a completely different matter – it’s a breath of fresh air when two brands with a similar ethos and outlook on the industry unite for something of substance. And with Oi Polloi x UW SS22, that’s exactly what you’re getting.
