What We’re Saying: Swiss running brand On has just unveiled its latest sneaker, the Cloudultra, which is designed for ultramarathons. The On Cloudultra features a double-stacked portion of the brand’s proprietary CloudTec® technology, providing increased cushioning and support.

Additionally, the sneaker features a new technology called FlipRelease, which was designed to relieve uncomfortable pressure as the foot swells during long-distance running. FlipRelease is built into the lacing system, allowing wearers to toggle it on and off at ease.

Over the past 18 months, On has attempted to establish itself in the lifestyle sector — which the Swiss brand aptly calls “Performance All Day.” Collaborations with Bang & Olufsen and new, more lifestyle-focused designs, as well as stocking shelves in some of the most popular sneaker stores worldwide, have all played a part in the brand’s ongoing push.

The Cloudultra is a move in the right direction, as it’s a performance running shoe — On’s specialty — that also looks good. The double-stacked midsole also provides a fresh take on the brand’s performance line and gives the shoe a more aggressive, outdoor-conquering feel.

The On Cloudultra will be released on March 4.
