This Air Max Plus Has the Power of the Op-Op Fruit
Celebrating one of the most iconic Devil Fruits in anime history, Nike joins forces with Eiichiro Oda’s legendary manga series for an unexpected crossover. Paying homage to Trafalgar D. Water Law’s space-manipulating powers, the Swoosh transforms the Nike Air Max Plus into the One Piece x Nike Air Max Plus Ope Ope.
This collaboration captures the essence of the Op-Op Fruit without feeling like a novelty costume piece, which so many crossovers can stray into. Rather than relying solely on surface graphics, the design translates Law's medical-themed power into the silhouette’s signature upper.
A vibrant red upper mimics the distinct heart-shaped Devil Fruit, while equally vibrant green lands along the tongue, laces, lining, and Swoosh.
Sublimated swirl patterns inspired by the Devil Fruit skin cover the upper as the defining visual characteristic of the design. The Tuned Air badge on the heel gets a heart-shaped rework, while custom graphic insoles and tongue branding round out the comprehensive update.
The sole unit continues the red aesthetic, incorporating crosshatch shading that’s so prevalent across the One Piece series. The swirl patterns that define the upper continue in the bridge of the sole unit to tie the design together.
The One Piece x Nike Air Max Plus Ope Ope is a masterclass in anime collaboration done right. While so many of these crossover collaborations fall flat, ending up feeling like merch with surface-level design switches, this one has really been thought through. Careful detail changes as well as a solid overall aesthetic make it a blueprint for future similar collaborations.
