Slam Jam recently launched the W3W initiative with Rayon Vert. Standing for “The Wisdom of the Third Wave”, W3W is a platform that’s hosting activations and collaborations that highlight a DIY approach to fashion and streetwear. The key to this collaboration is to empower us, the consumer, into becoming a prosumer: someone who produces some of the goods and services that go into their consumption.

Over the past month, the W3W platform has been dropping on-point merchandise alongside DIY tutorials, sewing kits, lessons, and more. But it’s not like any merch you’ve seen before. When you buy a piece of W3W merch, you better prepare to build it yourself (with the help of an online tutorial, of course.)

Plus, don’t expect to be putting together little trinkets. One of the latest W3W pieces to drop is a full-blown technical waterproof shell jacket that looks better than most on the market right now, all at a price of $157. It’s enough to make you start sewing all your clothing… And that’s the point.
