Vans' Snoafer Has Evolved & Grown Fur
Whether you love it or hate it, the fact of the matter is that sneaker loafers, dubbed snoafers, are happening. It feels like every week sees a new brand join the party or drop a new, more attention-grabbing variation.
This time, it’s the Vans LX Loafer 53 Pony Hair signals the snoafer train is not slowing and is, in fact, actually getting weirder. But we’re not mad at that. Snoafers are weird to begin with, so why not lean into it?
A minimal sneaker loafer is an oxymoron. There is nothing sophisticated or elegant about this hybrid design, so let’s not pretend that there is: let’s follow the lead of Vans and follow this insane silhouette to its logical conclusion and make it as out-there as possible.
The Vans LX Loafer 53 has finally been delivered in dark blue pony hair. We had no idea that we needed this, but now that it’s here, we’re glad it was made. Might it spark something a little more creative for the snoafer trend?
But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the snoafer in pony hair. Vans recently dropped the same design in a stunning zebra-print pony hair, somehow making the latest tonal iteration something of a retrained step down.
Built atop the brand’s signature vulcanized, cushioned sole unit, the shoe is remarkably comfortable while also featuring the slotted vamp of a classic penny loafer.
Finished with a stitched moccasin toe box, it does blend disparate style influences in a fairly coherent package, but that’s really not the attraction here. The goal of this shoe is to turn heads, and it definitely does that.
