adidas’ Samba Mule Is Stitched to Perfection
There's really no limit to the forms adidas' Samba sneaker can take. Just when you think there's nowhere else to go, the Three Stripes finds new sartorial levels to unlock.
This time, adidas has done so with the help of VegNonVeg, India's first multi-brand sneaker and streetwear boutique.
Inspired by Indian footwear, VegNonVeg turned adidas' most prolific sneaker into a stylistic mix between a pitch-ready sneaker and a classic jutti. The flat leather slip-on typically features intricate embellishments and a lace-free design, and VegNonVeg has transmuted some of that essence onto the Samba mule.
Delicate leaf-like stitching adorns the upper, adding aesthetic depth, and the mule shape gives the sneaker sandal-like casualness without sacrificing the structural athleticism that makes the Samba what it is. Sleek silver takes up most of the upper, interrupted only by a white Three Stripes at the midfoot.
In addition to the metallic colorway, the VegNonVeg colorway also comes in black.
Elsewhere, VegNonVeg swaps adidas' traditional gold foil branding near the Three Stripes for "VegNonVeg" branding.
The inside of the shoe is just as interesting thanks to the mismatched green and red insoles that represent the brands' "Veg" and "NonVeg" ethos. It's a stunner from top to bottom — and everywhere in between.
