adidas’ Samba Is Serving a Very Convincing Tiramisu This Fall
The Samba didn’t need another colorway, but this one makes a pretty strong case for existing anyway. The combination of deep brown and coffee-colored details look almost suspiciously good on the familiar silhouette.
The adidas Samba OG comes in Dusky Bronze, Aurora Coffee, and Gum, giving the terrace classic a much richer personality than its usual black-and-white uniform.
Dusky Bronze does most of the heavy lifting here. It’s dark enough to feel moody without turning the sneaker completely serious, while Aurora Coffee adds a lighter hit across the upper. The gum sole finishes things off with exactly the right amount of old-school charm.
And that’s what makes this particular Samba work. The silhouette hasn’t changed, nor does it need to. After years of seeing the Samba dressed in every combination imaginable, a really good set of colors can do more than another attempt at reinvention ever could.
There’s something almost fall-like about the whole thing, too. Not in an overly seasonal, “fall sneaker” kind of way, but in the simple fact that brown just looks good when everything else in the wardrobe starts getting darker.
The Samba is hardly a rogue sneaker at this point. That makes a genuinely good colorway all the more important.
This one has the colors, the gum sole and just enough obscurity to make an old favorite feel worth looking at again.
