Editor's Notes: What do you get when you combine the "Most Influential Skateboarder of All Time" and one of the most influential sneakers of all time? The adidas Superstar ADV x Gonz.

Skateboarder-turned-artist Mark Gonzales is somewhat of a staple at adidas – a superstar, if you will. Since 2018 the pairing has delivered a five-strong sneaker lineup consisting of Gonzales' signature Super Aloha silhouette and the timeless Superstar.

Where the Super Aloha is concerned, remixed fabrications and palettes have been the foundation of collaboration, providing dialed back, simplistic designs which allow for the easy-wearing low-top silhouette to speak for itself. For the superstar, The Gonzs’ favorite “Shmoo” character is the center of attention.

This upcoming triple black take on the Superstar ADV mirrors the first skateboard-inspired collaboration the pair delivered in 2020. Again, the original design of the sneaker has its Three Stripes branding stripped away and substituted for happy and sad "Shmoo" characters.

The suede patch birds (which look more like ghosts, if you ask me) appear sporadically around the black leather upper, giving the blank canvas a series of asymmetrical pops of color.

With Halloween just around the corner, these birds could definitely pass for something a little more sinister, so roll on spooky SZN.
