No brand makes me wish I could play basketball quite like Aimé Leon Dore. Whether it’s its collaborations, a myriad of 650s, or literally every damn one of its editorials, the NY-based label gives me a yearn to shoot some hoops.

Unfortunately your writer is merely 5ft 7” on a good day, and has never been able to “shoot hoops”. In fact, I’m pretty useless at almost every aspect of what basketball entails, so it’s unlikely you’ll catch me sinking three-pointers anytime soon.

For those in the same, sad situation, Aimé Leon Dore’s new collection alongside New Balance will go some way to making you feel like you belong on court, if that’s any consolation at least.

From coach jackets, jerseys, and warm up shirts, to duffle bags, socks, and even sliders, ALD has you covered both on and off the court, ensuring you’re always looking the business.

For the heads and the observant readers, you’ll likely have noticed some fresh New Balance 650Rs. Following months of rumors, ALD has also confirmed the impending release of three new colorways in grey, green, and blue, each of which can be won via an online raffle now.

Taking into account my size in paragraph two, a pair of high-tops is likely to make me look around 5ft 2”, so I’m taking a pass on this one.

That being said, when it comes to the apparel, no height deficiency or general lack of basketball skill can stop me stomping around the edges of a local court laden in a jersey, some ankle length shorts, and a pair of sliders. I'm here for the culture, not for the game. Which is handy.
