Anthony Edwards, the number 1 pick in the 2020 NBA draft, will sign an endorsement deal with adidas Basketball reports The Athletic’s Shams Charania. This announcement comes after the news that Jerry Lorenzo would be leading all creative and business strategy decisions for the Three Stripes’ subdivision.

Edwards joins a guard-heavy roster at adidas Basketball, including Derrick Rose, Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard, and James Harden. Edwards, selected first overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves, has been wearing Lillard’s adidas Dame 6 and Harden’s Vol. 4 sneakers.

It’s unlikely that Edwards will get a signature sneaker anytime soon, though signing the top draft pick should still be considered a coupe for adidas Basketball, as the brand attempts to rebrand itself both on and off of the court.

Details pertaining to the financials and duration of the contract between Edwards and adidas are currently unknown. Stay tuned for more information on that here.

Edwards has enjoyed a good start to his NBA career, scoring 15 points or more in each of his three NBA games.
