Editor's Notes: ASICS is going back to school to launch the sequel to its 2019 "Academic Scholar Pack." The two-parter sees the leading sneaker brand return for its sophomore year, putting the spotlight on two fan favorites – the GT-II and the legendary GEL-LYTE III.

For collectors the world over, ASICS' packs are some of the most celebrated within the industry. Whether that's thanks to Ronnie Fieg's efforts (largely on the GEL-LYTE III) or Kiko Kostadinov's collaborations and complete overhaul of Sportsyle as Creative Director, it has earnt its flowers.

When the original "Academic Scholar Pack" was released back in 2019, the roster was stacked. Delegated to three individual styles – the GEL-Kayano 5 OG, GEL-Kayano 26, and GEL-Nimbus 21 – the pack was a showcase of some of the brand's 90s-inspired favorites. Its standout was easily the GEL-Kayano 5 OG (which was undergoing a renaissance of sorts at the time), as it paired perfectly with the pack's palette.

For 2022's edition, the collection is stripped down to two silhouettes. Both the GEL-LYTE III and GT-II are dressed in premium leather and pigskin suede uppers, with micro-perforations emerging on the underlays.

Unlike the deep reds, navy, and green of the first outing, the sequel pairs purple and green with deep contrasting yellow for an ivy league aesthetic that compliments the finer details of each shoe.

This time around, the pack will drop in two phases, with the GEL-LYTE III releases for Semester 1, followed by the GT-II in Semester 2.
