What We’re Saying: Awake NY’s first-ever Vans collaboration sees Angelo Baque’s imprint take on the iconic Vans Sk8-Hi. The model is given not one, not two, but three remixes, blending California’s beachy, cool vibes with New York’s distinct aesthetic.

Vans’ legendary checkerboard pattern is at the center of the collaboration, as the Awake NY x Vans Sk8-Hi arrives in pink/black, green/blue, and blue/red. Each colorway features a digitally-printed checkerboard pattern and Awake NY branding on the lateral forefoot. Westside Gunn features in a special lookbook shot by Shaniqwa Jarvis.

“It’s exciting that Awake NY can serve as a conduit between the East and West Coasts. A partner like Vans truly complements us, and vice versa,” Awake NY founder Angelo Baque said. “As with all our collaborations, the community is the foundation. We’re looking forward to working with Fresh Youth Initiatives, and Children of Promise, NY. With the power of Vans, Greenhouse, and Foot Locker behind us, we’re truly able to make a difference.”

Look for the collaboration to drop first via Awake NY’s official site on October 15, before dropping on October 20 via the Greenhouse App and then landing at Foot Locker locations on October 22.
