Revealed during the fashion house's Fall/Winter ’18 runway show, the Balenciaga Track is the label's latest high-tech sneaker to join its opinion-splitting footwear roster. The sneakers in question officially released on September 24.

Having dropped in a variety of colors, Demna Gvasalia's latest running shoes pack some technical credentials including protective paneling, front and back pull loops, and a reinforced sole (Triple S haters will be glad to know it's just one this time around).

Perhaps the most Balenciaga feature of the new Balenciaga sneakers is their price tag, coming in at a not-so-bank-account-friendly €650 (approx. $750). So, if you're keen on the aesthetic but not so much the cost, fret not. Recent times have seen the rise of the trail sneaker, meaning you'll be glad to know that you can get your hands on a similar pair of kicks for a fraction of the price.

Below, we've found 10 kicks that are giving Balenciaga's design a run for its money. In the selection, you'll see everything from Nike's Air Max 270, to performance-primed, gel-soled options from ASICS and ever-reliable Salomon offerings — a brand that seems to be killing it with every shoe at the moment.

With options starting from as low as $50, these sneakers may not hold the fashion-circle credentials of the Balenciaga Track, but they'll perform in just the same way in both the performance and style department.
